Head Underground At The Big Pit National Coal Museum

About a 40 minute drive away in the Big Pit National Coal Museum. This place is a real coal mine and one of Britain's leading mining museums. A trip takes you 300 feet underground to learn what life was like for the thousands of miners working there; followed by a very informative museum. This is a great rainy day activity! From July 20th - 31st August the underground tours need to be booked, either in advance for £8 or on the day for £5. Outside of these times the tour is free. Entry to the museum is always free. You can check out the website for more information.
